Sweet like home

Ayer viví una de esas experiencias que reproducen pensamientos encontrados. De hecho, me cuesta concentrarme en uno para poder empezar este post. Primero, me hubiese gustado hacer un evento parecido al Jewelry Self Service en mi país, Venezuela, pero lamentablemente allá no se encuentran materiales de decoración para recrear lo que tenía en mente, y si se encuentran, son extremadamente costosos.

Yesterday I had one of those experiences in your life that reproduce a plenty of crossed thoughts. In fact, it's hard to focus in just one to start writing this post. First, I would like to host in my country, Venezuela, an event similar to the Jewelry Self Service, but unfortunately there's difficult to find decoration to recreate what I had on mind, and even if I find them, they're very expensive.

Segundo, es increíble que aun existan personas dispuestas a ayudar sin esperar nada a cambio. La mama de mi novio ofreció llevarme a De Living (donde fue el evento); me ayudó a montar la mesa con todos los accesorios; invitó a amigas que se probaron y compraron varias piezas de diseñadores y orfebres venezolanos; y me esperó hasta el final, alrededor de las 10pm, para ayudarme a recoger y llevarme de regreso a casa.

Second, it's amazing that there still are persons disposed to help you without expect nothing in return. My boyfriend's mom offered to take me to De Living (the place where I host the event); she helped me to set the table with all the accessories; she invited friends that tried and bought jewelry from Venezuelan designers and goldsmiths; and she waited for me till the end, around 10pm, to help me to save all the accessories back and take me home.

También agradezco muchísimo la ayuda de Pili, una extraordinaria mujer mexicana, casada con un amigo de mi novio, que apenas he visto unas 4 veces en mi vida y ayer sentí que era una de mis mejores amigas ayudándome con las ventas y atención a los clientes. Por supuesto, no puedo dejar de agradecer a Kristien y todo el equipo que trabaja en De Living, que me ofrecieron ese acogedor rincón de su fantástico restaurante para recrear mi pequeño café de moda venezolana en Amberes.

Also I appreciate a lot the help from Pili, an extraordinary Mexican women, married to one of my boyfriend's friends, that I just seen her a couple of times in my life and yesterday I felt that she was one of my best friends helping me out with the sales and customers care. Of course, I can't finish this post without thank Kristien and all De Living's staff for offered me those cozy corner in their fantastic restaurant, to recreate my little coffee of Venezuelan fashion in Antwerp.

Aunque no estuvieron presente mis padres, mis hermanas y amigos mas cercanos en Venezuela, cada una de las personas que asistieron me hicieron sentir muy especial. Pensé que iba a ser yo quien trajera el calorcito caribeño a Bélgica, pero a pesar del frío, ayer recibí mucho calor, apoyo y amor de seres que nacieron y viven en esta hermosa ciudad.

At last, although my parents, sisters and close friends from Venezuela weren't there, every single person that attended made me feel very special. I thought I was going to be the one who would bring the Caribbean heat to Belgium, but despite the cold weather, yesterday I received so much warm, help and love from special beings who were born, raised and live in this beautiful city.
